Upendra Kushwaha is an Indian politician and Minister of State for Human Resource Development in the Government of India. He is a Member of Parliament from Karakat Lok Sabha in Bihar’s district dominated by the Kushwaha Kshatriya caste. He is a former member of Rajya Sabha and leader of Rashtriya Lok Samta Party.

Upendra Kushwaha Biography

Upendra Kushwaha was born on 6 February 1960 in Vaishali district in the state of Bihar. His father’s name was ‘Muneshwar Singh’ and his mother’s name was ‘Muneshwari Devi’. He started his career as a politician in 1985, he was the state general secretary in Yuva Lok Dal from 1985-88.

Later Upendra Kushwaha became the Youth General Secretary, National General Secretary during 1988-93. He also served as the General Secretary of Samata Party from 1994-2002. Upendra Kushwaha was a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from 2000-2005 and was appointed as the Deputy Leader of the Samata Party in the Bihar Legislative Assembly.

After the Lok Sabha elections in March 2004, ‘Sushil Modi’ was appointed to the Lok Sabha and the number of MLAs of JD (U) (Janata Dal-United) increased in comparison to the BJP. Since the leader of JD(U) changed his party. So Upendra Kushwaha became the leader of the opposition.

Upendra Kushwaha founded the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party on 3 March 2013 and unveiled his party’s name and flag at a rally at the historic Gandhi Maidan. Upendra Kushwaha and socialist leader Ram Bihari Singh are the founding national president and national general secretary of the party respectively.
